چکیده

In this paper we study the B-mode/Doppler duplex imaging problem. We begin by looking at the problem of determining the true velocity vector only. We develop a model for the power spectrum of a signal reeected by a line of point scatterers with a Poisson distribution. We show that with circularly symmetric apertures it is possible to use the expression of that power spectrum to determine the true velocity vector from a single excitation and two measurements. We also describe an illumination connguration that guarantees that the velocity estimation process is range-invariant. We conclude the paper by studying the problem of simultaneously estimating the range and true velocity of a ow. In particular, we show that this problem is completely characterized by a generalized range-2-D Doppler ambiguity function that depends on the excitation signal and the transducer geometry.

Measurement of carotid stenosis using duplex ultrasonography with a microconvex array transducer: a validation with cerebral angiography.

BACKGROUND We aimed to evaluate the validity of duplex ultrasonography (DUS) using a microconvex array transducer (MAT) with enhanced flow imaging (EFI) for visualization of the distal, internal carotid artery (ICA) and the accurate assessment of ICA stenosis. METHODS Patients who underwent both DUS and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) were registered for this study. DUS was performed by...

Blood velocities estimation using ultrasound

This thesis consists of two parts. In the first part, the iterative data-adaptive BIAA spectral estimation technique was extended to estimate lateral blood velocities using ultrasound scanners. The BIAA method makes no assumption on samples depth or sampling pattern, and therefore allows for transmission in duplex mode imaging. The technique was examined on a realistic Field II simulation data ...

Compact Angular Support Beams for Space-invariant Vector Flow Mapping

In this work, we deene a special class of compact angular spectrum beams (CASBs) that can be used to provide space-invariant estimation of the velocity vector from a single coplanar aperture. By space-invariance we mean both range and azimuth ow shift-invariance of velocity estimation. We analytically show that some of the non-diiractive beams, e.g., Bessel beams, are sub-classes of CASBs. We s...

Biplane Phased Array for Ultrasonic Medical Imaging

We report a transducer structure tha t combines two orthogonal phased arrays which enable the real-time scanning of two orthogonal sectors. This biplane phased array is formed by partially dicing the opposite faces of a composite piezoelectric plate in orthogonal directions. Individual elements of the orthogonal arrays show broad radiation patterns close to the theoretical expectations for isol...

Background Access to appropriate images of fetal brain can greatly assist to diagnose of probable abnormalities. The aim of this study was to compare the suitability of T2-True Fast Imaging with Steady State Free Precession (T2-TRUFI), and T2-Half-Fourier Acquisition Single-Shot Turbo Spin-Echo (T2- HASTE( magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to extract the fetal brain using the level set algorithm...
